Day Rooms at Atlanta Airport: Minute Suites, the Sonesta Day Use Pass and Early Check-In
A long daytime layover at ATL, a red-eye that lands at 6 am with nowhere to be until evening, a cancelled afternoon flight rebooked for the morning: all three call for a bed or at least a shower in the daytime, and Atlanta offers three ways to get one. Inside security, Minute Suites rents rooms by the hour. Outside, the Sonesta sells a Day Use Pass, and the SkyTrain hotels are close enough that a normal room from early check-in to late check-out works as a day room without the shuttle overhead. Here is how each works and what it costs in 2026.
Minute Suites inside security
Minute Suites has three locations at ATL, all past the checkpoints: near gate B24 on Concourse B, in the atrium by the escalators on Concourse E, and near gate F6 on Concourse F (between gates F2 and F4). Each private suite has a daybed sofa with a pull-out trundle, a desk and chair, a smart TV, Wi-Fi, charging points and sound masking; blankets and pillows are on request. Rooms are rented from one hour, at about $42 for the first hour and $84 for two in 2026, then in 15-minute increments, with an Overnight Stay of eight consecutive hours between 9 pm and 8 am at about $155. Priority Pass members get one hour free at any location. Only the Concourse E suite has showers, which are reserved separately and include towels and toiletries. Book online in advance for a guaranteed slot on busy afternoons, or walk up; cancel more than three hours ahead for a refund. For a connection of three to five hours, this is the practical choice: no security to re-clear and the Plane Train puts every concourse within eight minutes.
The Sonesta Day Use Pass
The Sonesta Atlanta Airport South is the one hotel on this site with a published day-use product: a Day Use Pass, reserved by phone on +1 404-487-5000, that gives travellers on a long layover or a cancelled flight access to the heated indoor pool, the hot tub, the fitness centre, the lobby and The Burger Place during the day, without booking a room. Prices and hours are set by the hotel, so call for the current terms. The Sonesta’s free shuttle runs on a 30-minute rotation from the hotel-shuttle aisle at the west end of the Domestic Terminal (Aisle C, South stalls, ask the dispatcher), so budget an hour for the round trip on top of the time at the hotel. It is a good answer to the six-hour afternoon gap in summer when the terminal is full of storm-delayed passengers.
A room for the day at a SkyTrain hotel
None of the four Gateway Center hotels publishes a day rate, but their location makes a normal room the best day room at the airport: the free SkyTrain takes two minutes each way and runs all day, so a room at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway, the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway, the SpringHill Suites Atlanta Airport Gateway or the AC Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway costs you about 20 minutes’ travel in total. Two routines work. If you arrive early in the morning, book the previous night and check in on arrival; the room is yours until 11 am (noon at the AC), and a late check-out to 2 or 4 pm can usually be bought or is free for Marriott Bonvoy elites. If you arrive after midday, book the night and ask for a late check-out; the Marriott Gateway’s indoor pool and 24-hour fitness centre fill the gap.
Early check-in and late check-out at the shuttle hotels
The shuttle hotels can do the same, with the shuttle interval added to each leg. Standard check-in is 3 pm at the Atlanta Airport Marriott, The Westin Atlanta Airport, the Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport North and the Hotel Indigo Atlanta Airport College Park, and 4 pm at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport, the Hilton Atlanta Airport, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta Airport and the Sonesta; check-out is 11 am or noon. Early check-in is granted when the room is ready and often charged when it is not; the Marriott and Westin, with 500 to 640 rooms each, are the most likely to have one free at 10 am. Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy elite members get late check-out as a benefit. If you want the pools, the Marriott, the Westin, the Hilton and the Embassy Suites all have an indoor and an outdoor pool.
Showers without a room
For a shower alone, the options inside security are Minute Suites on Concourse E (booked separately), The Club ATL on the Concourse F mezzanine (Priority Pass, LoungeKey or a $50 day pass, 5:30 am to 11 pm) the Amex Centurion Lounge on Concourse E for Platinum cardholders, and the larger Delta Sky Clubs (Concourse F among them) for eligible Delta passengers. See our lounges guide for access rules and our sleeping in the airport guide for the overnight version of all of this.

Inside security, yes: Minute Suites rents private rooms by the hour near gate B24, in the Concourse E atrium and near gate F6, from one hour upwards, no membership needed. Outside security no hotel on this site publishes a fixed day-room rate, but the Sonesta Atlanta Airport South sells a Day Use Pass for its pool, hot tub, fitness centre and lobby, and most hotels will sell an early check-in or a late check-out for a fee when they have the room.
How much do Minute Suites cost at ATL?
About $42 for the first hour and $84 for two in 2026, charged in 15-minute blocks after that, with an eight-hour overnight rate of about $155. Priority Pass members get the first hour free. Showers are booked separately and only at the Concourse E location.
Which hotel is best for a daytime rest during a long layover?
For the shortest round trip, one of the Gateway Center hotels: the SkyTrain takes two minutes each way and runs all day, so a room at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway or the AC Hotel from an early check-in to a late check-out costs no shuttle waiting. For the pool without a room, the Sonesta's Day Use Pass; for a shower and a lounge without leaving security, The Club ATL on Concourse F or the Centurion Lounge on E.
Can I check in early at an Atlanta airport hotel?
Usually, for a fee or free when the hotel is not full. Standard check-in is 3 pm at most hotels here and 4 pm at the Renaissance Concourse, Hilton, Embassy Suites and Sonesta; check-out is 11 am or noon. Ask when you book, or book the previous night if you arrive before about 9 am and want the room immediately.
