ATL Hotel Shuttles and the SkyTrain: How to Reach Your Hotel
Atlanta’s airport is easier than most for hotel guests, because the two ways of reaching a hotel start from the same place. Whether you are heading for the SkyTrain or a hotel shuttle, you walk to the west end of the Domestic Terminal, between the North and South baggage claims, and go out through door W1 or W2. Upstairs is the free ATL SkyTrain to the Gateway Center hotels; at ground level is the new Ground Transportation Center, where every hotel shuttle loads. What follows is how each works, checked against the airport’s ground transportation pages and each hotel’s own site in September 2026.
The ATL SkyTrain
The SkyTrain is an electric automated people mover that runs from the Domestic Terminal to the ATL West Parking Deck, the Gateway Center (Georgia International Convention Center, Gateway Center Arena and the four hotels) and the Rental Car Center. It is free, needs no ticket and runs 24 hours a day, every two minutes in the daytime and every ten minutes between about 11 pm and 4 am; the whole loop takes around five minutes. From baggage claim follow the signs for SkyTrain and Rental Car Center to the west end of the terminal, go out through W1 or W2 and take the escalator or lift up to the platform. The first stop is Gateway Center: the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway and the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway are a short covered walk from the station, the SpringHill Suites Atlanta Airport Gateway a few minutes further along the concourse, and the AC Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway about five minutes on foot down Hospitality Way (or a phone call to the desk for a pick-up). Going back, the same train takes you to the terminal in two minutes, at any hour; allow 20 minutes from your room to the check-in hall.
The Ground Transportation Center
The Ground Transportation Center (GTC) opened at the west end of the Domestic Terminal in 2025 and gathered everything that used to be scattered along the kerbs into lettered aisles. Aisle A is taxis (stalls A3 to A10), Aisle B shared-ride vans, Aisle C hotel shuttles and Aisle D off-airport parking buses. Rideshare pick-ups (Uber, Lyft) are not here: they are in the North Economy lot, reached by the escalators near door LN1 in North baggage claim. To reach the GTC, exit through W1 from the North side or W2 from the South side and follow the overhead signs.
Hotel shuttle Aisle C
Hotel shuttles load in three groups of stalls, roughly by direction:
- Stalls C1 to C2, College Park and Camp Creek: Hotel Indigo Atlanta Airport College Park, plus the Camp Creek Parkway budget hotels.
- Stalls C3 to C5, South: Atlanta Airport Marriott, The Westin Atlanta Airport, Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta Airport and Sonesta Atlanta Airport South.
- Stalls C6 to C8, North: Hilton Atlanta Airport, Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport North and Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport.
A dispatcher is usually on duty in the aisle; tell them your hotel and they will point to the stall and, for hotels that send a bus on request, radio ahead. Have the hotel’s phone number ready in case no bus appears within the interval it promises. The rides are short: five minutes to the Best Road and Virginia Avenue hotels, up to ten to the Embassy Suites and the Sonesta.
Shuttle hours, hotel by hotel
Four shuttles run around the clock: the Atlanta Airport Marriott (every 15 minutes from 4:30 am to midnight, every 30 minutes overnight), The Westin Atlanta Airport, the Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport North (every 30 minutes) and the Hotel Indigo Atlanta Airport College Park. The Hilton Atlanta Airport runs from 4:00 am to 2:00 am, which covers everything except the very earliest departures; between 2 and 4 am a taxi from the GTC takes ten minutes. The Renaissance Concourse runs every 20 minutes and does not publish start and finish times; the Embassy Suites does not publish a timetable; the Sonesta leaves the hotel at the top of each hour on a 30-minute rotation. For those three, ask the front desk for the current schedule when you book and again when you check in, and note that the Renaissance Concourse suspends its shuttle in severe weather (see our thunderstorm delays guide).
Arriving at the International Terminal
Every shuttle above serves the Domestic Terminal only, and so does the SkyTrain. If your flight lands at the Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal on the east side of the airport, clear immigration and customs, collect your bags and exit on the arrivals level. The free terminal-to-terminal shuttle picks up between doors A1 and A2 and runs about every 15 minutes to the Domestic Terminal’s Ground Transportation Center, a ride of 10 to 15 minutes around the south side of the airfield; from there you are at the hotel-shuttle aisle and the SkyTrain doors. Travellers with no checked bags can instead stay inside security and ride the Plane Train from Concourse F to the Domestic Terminal in about eight minutes, then walk out through baggage claim. A few hotels do send a bus to the International Terminal on request (pick-up to the right of door A3), but none of the twelve on this site promises to, so plan on the transfer.
Going back to the airport
For a flight from the Domestic Terminal, the shuttle drops you at the GTC, a few minutes’ walk from either check-in hall: Delta is in the South terminal and every other domestic airline in the North (see our terminals guide). For an international departure from Concourse F, ask the shuttle driver whether the bus is going to the International Terminal that run; if not, get off at the Domestic Terminal, check in there if your airline allows it (Delta does) and ride the Plane Train to F, or take the free terminal-to-terminal shuttle round. Allow 30 minutes more than you would for a domestic flight.
Which to choose
If you value certainty above everything, stay on the SkyTrain: no timetable, no phone call, no weather suspension. If you want a pool, a steakhouse or a lower rate, the shuttle hotels give you more for the money, and four of them run all night. The one combination to avoid is a hotel whose shuttle stops before your flight leaves; the comparison table on our home page shows the access type for every hotel, and the MARTA guide covers the one hotel, the Hotel Indigo, that you can also reach by train.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do hotel shuttles pick up at Atlanta airport?
In Aisle C of the Ground Transportation Center at the west end of the Domestic Terminal. From either baggage claim walk towards the SkyTrain and MARTA signs, go out through door W1 (North) or W2 (South) and follow the signs to the hotel-shuttle aisle. Stalls C1 to C2 are for College Park and Camp Creek hotels (Hotel Indigo), C3 to C5 for hotels south of the airport (Atlanta Airport Marriott, Westin, Embassy Suites, Sonesta) and C6 to C8 for hotels north of it (Hilton, Holiday Inn North, Renaissance Concourse). A dispatcher can point you to the right stall.
Do the hotel shuttles serve the International Terminal?
The ones on this site do not. Arriving international passengers collect their bags, exit the International Terminal on the arrivals level, and take the free terminal-to-terminal shuttle from between doors A1 and A2 to the Domestic Terminal, about 15 minutes, then find their hotel's stall in the Ground Transportation Center. Without checked bags you can also take the Plane Train inside security from Concourse F to the Domestic Terminal.
Which Atlanta airport hotels need no shuttle at all?
The four Gateway Center hotels: Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway, Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway, SpringHill Suites Atlanta Airport Gateway and AC Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway. They are one stop from the Domestic Terminal on the free ATL SkyTrain, which runs 24 hours a day, every two minutes by day and every ten minutes between 11 pm and 4 am.
Which hotel shuttles run 24 hours?
Four on this site: Atlanta Airport Marriott (every 15 minutes until midnight, then every 30), The Westin Atlanta Airport, Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport North (every 30 minutes) and Hotel Indigo Atlanta Airport College Park. The Hilton Atlanta Airport runs from 4 am to 2 am, the Renaissance Concourse every 20 minutes on a schedule it does not publish, and the Embassy Suites and Sonesta on timetables you should confirm when booking.
