Family-Friendly Hotels at Atlanta Airport: Suites, Pools, Free Breakfast and Kids Eat Free
Families at Atlanta airport usually want the same three things: a room where a child can go to sleep while the adults stay up, breakfast that does not involve a queue, and a pool for the afternoon before a late flight. The twelve hotels on this site cover those in different combinations, and the SkyTrain adds a fourth consideration that parents of small children will appreciate. This guide sorts them by what matters most to a family, with details checked on each hotel’s site in September 2026.
Suites: a door between the children and the television
The Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta Airport is built for this: every room is a two-room suite with a bedroom and a separate living room with a sofa bed, a microwave and a fridge, sleeping up to six, and the price includes a cooked-to-order breakfast with an omelette station and an evening reception with drinks and snacks that doubles as an early supper for children. It has an indoor and an outdoor pool and a free shuttle to the Domestic Terminal, whose hours you should confirm when booking. The SpringHill Suites Atlanta Airport Gateway offers the same idea on the SkyTrain: 147 suites with a sofa bed in a separate living area, a microwave and fridge, and a free hot breakfast from 6:30 am on weekdays and 7 am at weekends, with no shuttle to organise; there is no pool. The Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport North has one-bedroom suites with a living area at the lowest rate on this site, and the Sonesta Atlanta Airport South club-level one-bedroom suites. The full-service hotels have connecting rooms instead: the Hilton Atlanta Airport lists connecting rooms and cribs, and the Atlanta Airport Marriott, with 638 rooms, can usually find two next to each other.
Pools
For a swim before or after a flight, the choice is wide. The Atlanta Airport Marriott has a heated indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool with the fitness centre overlooking it; The Westin Atlanta Airport next door has an indoor and an outdoor pool; the Hilton Atlanta Airport has both too, and so does the Embassy Suites. On the SkyTrain, the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway has an indoor saltwater pool on the second floor, open all year; the Sonesta has a heated indoor pool and a hot tub; the Holiday Inn North’s outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day weekend to 30 September. The Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway, AC Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway, SpringHill Suites and Hotel Indigo Atlanta Airport College Park have no pool, and the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport does not list one, so ask before promising a swim. In summer, the outdoor pools are the reward for an afternoon storm delay; see our thunderstorm delays guide.
Breakfast and children’s meals
Free breakfast for everyone is at the Embassy Suites (cooked to order) and the SpringHill Suites (hot buffet). Children eat free at the Holiday Inn North’s The Hangar (12 and under, with a paying adult, from the kids’ menu), and children 19 and under stay free there in their parents’ room. The Hilton’s Redeye Southern Kitchen has a children’s menu and a buffet breakfast; the Marriott Gateway’s Champions Beer Garden and the Renaissance Gateway’s Hickory & Hazel are relaxed enough for children at dinner; the Marriott Gateway’s 24-hour market and the SpringHill Suites’ The Market cover the child who is hungry at 10 pm. The AC Hotel’s European breakfast (pastries and cured meats) is the least child-oriented on the list.
The SkyTrain with a pushchair
Getting from the terminal to a hotel with children is where the Gateway Center hotels earn their rate. From baggage claim it is a five-minute walk to the SkyTrain doors at the west end, a lift or escalator up, a two-minute ride with level boarding and space for a pushchair and a luggage trolley, and a covered walk into the Marriott Gateway or the Renaissance Gateway, or a few minutes more to the SpringHill Suites. There is no phone call, no bus step, and no 30-minute wait in the shuttle aisle with a tired child. The shuttle hotels work well too, but budget for folding the pushchair, lifting bags into the bus and waiting up to half an hour at the stall; the Atlanta Airport Marriott’s 15-minute interval is the shortest. Arriving at the International Terminal, the free terminal-to-terminal shuttle adds 20 minutes to either plan. Our SkyTrain and hotel shuttles guide has the details.
Something to do
The Delta Flight Museum, ten minutes by taxi from the terminal, lets children walk through a Boeing 747 and out onto its wing (9 am to 3 pm, closed Wednesdays and on private-event days, tickets in advance); the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola are 20 minutes away by MARTA from the Airport station. Both are in our Atlanta layover guide. Travelling with a dog as well as children? See the pet-friendly hotels guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Atlanta airport hotel is best for a family with young children?
The Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta Airport, for its two-room suites (the children sleep in the bedroom while the adults use the living room), free cooked-to-order breakfast, free evening reception, and indoor and outdoor pools. On the SkyTrain, the SpringHill Suites Atlanta Airport Gateway offers suites with a sofa bed and a free hot breakfast with no shuttle to manage.
Which airport hotels in Atlanta have a pool?
Indoor and outdoor: the Atlanta Airport Marriott, The Westin Atlanta Airport, the Hilton Atlanta Airport and the Embassy Suites. Indoor only: the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway (saltwater) and the Sonesta Atlanta Airport South (heated, with a hot tub). Outdoor only, Memorial Day to September: the Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport North. No pool: the Renaissance Gateway, AC Hotel, SpringHill Suites, Hotel Indigo, and the Renaissance Concourse does not list one.
Do children eat free anywhere?
At the Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport North, where children 12 and under eat free from the kids' menu at The Hangar with a paying adult and children 19 and under stay free in their parents' room. The Embassy Suites and the SpringHill Suites include breakfast for everyone, and the Hilton's Redeye Southern Kitchen has a children's menu.
Is the SkyTrain easier than a shuttle with children?
Yes. The SkyTrain has level boarding, lifts at both ends, room for pushchairs and luggage, runs every two minutes and needs no phone call, so a family can leave the Domestic Terminal and be in the Gateway Center hotel lobby in ten minutes. Shuttle buses are fine but mean folding the pushchair, lifting bags and waiting up to 30 minutes at the stall.
